We offer advice and consultancy on how to provide and maintain optimal nutrition levels in livestock. This includes tailoring diets to calves, yearlings and adult miking dairy or beef cows. Our team can help in ration formulation and problem solving nutritional issues in a herd. We offer a calf dehorning service. This involves deep sedation, nerve blocking, topical and systemic anti-inflammatories, in conjunction with gas dehorning. This ensures a pain free procedure, with a pain free recovery period to optimise growth and health post disbudding.
Our vets have many years of experience treating lameness in cattle. We have a mobile tipping crush which can be used for both cows and bulls. Lameness and corrective trimming can be quickly and safely performed with minimal stress to the animal. Heifer teat sealing and teat surgery can also be performed in the trailer.
We are very proud of our calf facility located at the warragul premises. This facility includes a hospital area for sick calves receiving intravenous fluid and plasma therapy. Our knowledge on neonatal care is state of the art and we employ the latest techniques to ensure optimal outcomes for sick calves.
As part of the calf unit is a surgical facility which provides a sterile area for abdominal and orthopaedic procedures. We are skilled at umbilical hernia repair and a range of acute abdominal conditions which require surgery.
“I don’t go anywhere else”
I have been a client of this practice for about 30 years I have had consultations with cattle, horse, dogs, and cats.
Most of the time it’s just yearly injections and wormers but have on the odd occassion thave horses stitched up and several of our animals have had to be put to sleep for various reasons such as bone cancer.
I had one dog that got kicked by a cow and had his jaw broken in three places. They managed to put him back together so I had my cattle dog for another six or seven years. I highly recommend them. I don’t go anywhere else.
